Q: |
What is High-Speed Wireless Internet? |
 |
| |
A: |
Webpipe.net High-Speed Wireless Internet is a line-of-sight fixed wireless technology that delivers high speed Internet to a home or office. Our service area covers most of Weber County and part of Davis County, including some of the areas where DSL and cable are not available. If you cannot get either DSL or cable or are looking for an alternative, this is the service for you.
|
| |
Q: |
Which high speed Internet access should I choose? DSL or Webpipe.net High-Speed Wireless Internet? |
 |
| |
A: |
The upfront costs for DSL are slightly less than those for High-Speed Wireless Internet; however, the monthly costs for DSL are significantly higher for comparable speeds. In addition, some customers may wish to not have a phone line, and only use a cell phone at home. Unlike DSL, which requires you to have a phone line, Webpipe.net High-Speed Wireless Internet is wireless and does not require one.

| |
Q: |
Where are the Antenna locations? |
 |
| |
A: |
We have multiple CPE locations throughout Weber County and beyond, with more planned in the near future. Based on your pre-qualification Webpipe.net will be able to determine which CPE will give you the fastest service.
|
| |
Q: |
Will this allow me to move around my house or neighborhood? |
 |
| |
A: |
No, Webpipe.net High-Speed Wireless Internet is a fixed wireless Internet service. It has a radio that connects to a fixed CPE either inside or mounted on the outside of your home or office, and then the radio connects to your computer, router, or other network device. However, you can use mobile wireless networking equipment in conjunction with Webpipe.net High-Speed Wireless Internet to have that type service. Such equipment can be purchased from any computer equipment retailer and self-installed or installed by an independent contractor. Please call us if you would like us to refer you to a trusted installer.
|
| |
Q: |
How will the CPE (Customer Premise Equipment) be installed? |
 |
| |
A: |
Every installation will be different. Before work is done, the installer will provide you a written installation consult. An outdoor CPE is typically installed on the roof line of the building on a bracket or small mast. A CAT5 cable is then run from the CPE and connected through a wall to the inside of your home much like a satellite installation. The location where the radio will be inside your home or office should be within 75 feet of the location the CPE is installed
|
| |
Q: |
Can my service be affected by weather or objects in the line of sight of the CPE? |
 |
| |
A: |
Because Webpipe.net High-Speed Wireless Internet wireless technology uses such low frequencies, weather is not as large of a factor as many other wireless technologies. Trees and other objects can affect the signal, that is why we like to perform a site survey before installation. Webpipe.net will not install the service if it does not meet the required quality metrics during the pre-installation phase.
|
| |
Q: |
Is Webpipe.net High-Speed Wireless Internet symmetrical (the same speed uploading and downloading)? |
 |
| |
A: |
Yes, Webpipe.net High-Speed Wireless Internet is symmetrical, unlike standard DSL and cable.
|
| |
Q: |
How many computers can I connect to the Webpipe.net High-Speed Wireless Internet service? |
 |
| |
A: |

You can purchase additional IP addresses, however, most customers put in a network router instead. |
| |
Q: |
What is the process to have High-Speed Wireless Internet activated at my home or office? |
 |
| |
A: |
You must agree to our Terms and Conditions prior to scheduling an appointment. The final determination of service availability will be at the time of install. If we are unable to provide service within our matrix there will be no charges, unless you have been notified ahead of time that the pre-qualification is questionable. In instances where we notify you ahead of time that the pre-qualification is questionable and the installer is unable to complete the installation for any reason, a nominal Service Call Fee will be assessed to cover the cost of the technician’s time. Once the technician has determined that we are able to provide service within our matrix you will be provided, in writing, all the detailed information of how the service will be implemented. Before doing any actual work, the technician will provide a written copy of the consult and you must accept any indicated conditions. You are then bound to the Terms and Conditions and any non-recurring charges are non-refundable, so long as the Webpipe.net High-Speed Wireless Internet service functions within the following matrix: CPE at the time of install has maintained a -80 or lower db signal and Internet throughput is at least 25KBps (200kbps) as measured from the antenna to your CPE. The equipment and CPE are always ours and must be returned if service is discontinued.
|
| |
Q: |
What happens if I do not want the service anymore? |
 |
| |
A: |
In accordance with the Terms and Conditions, you are required to pay the reamining months on your contract unless Webpipe.net cannot provide you with a reasonable consistent connection. In the case of a cancellation all equipment including: the CPE, power cord, cables, and power-over-eithernet adaptor must be returned to Webpipe.net in working order.
|
| |
Q: |
What happens if I move? |
 |
| |
A: |
You should contact Webpipe.net and confirm if the service is available at the new address. If the service is available, Webpipe.net can re-install the CPE and equipment at the new location. There will be a $75.00 service charge.
