Users should begin using authenticated SMTP | Oct 29, 2007 |
As the next step in our mail system upgrade, we now have a centralized mail server that should be used for outgoing SMTP. All Webpipe mail customers can begin using this new server immediately. Simply configure your mail client to use an outgoing mail server of 'smtp.webpipe.net'. You should check the option about using authentication, and use the same email address and password that you use for your incoming mail server.
At some point in the future we will disable the ability to use non-authenticated SMTP. |
DNS and Reverse DNS Control Panel Available | Aug 14, 2007 |
We have been working for quite a while now on getting a centralized customer control panel developed. After much development and testing, we're happy to announce the initial release of our control panel at https://www.webpipe.net/cp/
The initial release of the control panel allows Webpipe customers to manage their own DNS and Reverse DNS Entries. Future plans involve combining any separate applications into this same control panel. Eventually, we envision the control panel as the central place to manage all aspects of your Webipe account.

Avmail migration successfull | Aug 5, 2007 |
| The migration of all customer email accounts and data from avmail was very successful. It took slightly longer than planned, but went smoothly. Most users had their email quotas increased during the process. |
avmail.webpipe.net migration | Aug 1, 2007 |
Webpipe is in the process of performing significant upgrades to our email
system. Our goal is to provide our users with the most reliable service and
competitive features. As part of that upgrade, we will be migrating all
domains and accounts on avmail.webpipe.net to a different server on Saturday
night starting at 11:00 PM MDT. We estimate that the migration will take two to
four hours to complete, and should finish early Sunday morning by 3:00 AM.
The migration will be completely transparent to you. We have done careful
planning and testing to ensure that everything goes smoothly. We will be moving
the entire server to make it so that you will not have to change any settings in
your email client. All accounts, emails, addressbooks, domains, and IP
addresses will be moved to the new server.
This time was chosen to reduce the impact as much as possible for as many
customers as possible. If this time is inconvenient for you, please email
us as soon as possible to request an alternate time for your
account to be migrated. We'd also be happy to answer any other questions you
have regarding this process.

Centralized spam filter interface | Jul 23, 2007 |
| Emails to your domain are sent to one of our spam filter servers. Until now, each of those servers has had its own web interface for querying messages and reporting on the email messages for your domain. We have just finished upgrading this program and installing it on a centralized server. This means that it is no longer necessary to query each of the servers separately to view mail sent to your domain.
The new centralized interface can be found at https://www.webpipe.net/mailscanner/ Your existing username and password will work on this new installation. Please Contact Us if you need an account for one of your domains. |
New East Bench Wireless Access Point Available | Jul 18, 2007 |
Webpipe has just completed installing another Wireless POP (point of presence) on the East Bench of the Ogden area.
With this new POP, we have a higher level of redundancy and are able to offer higher speed service. It also provides better coverage to Ogden City, South Ogden, and Riverdale areas.
Current customers in these areas may be contacted if we may be able to provide you with better service by moving you to the new POP. This will involve just a short visit to your home or office for us to turn your antenna to point to the new POP |
Webmail Upgrade | May 29, 2007 |
We are working on replacing our current webmail software with a newer program that is more user friendly and more modern. Current customers who have their mail hosted on any of our mail servers can start using the new program at https://www.webpipe.net/webmail/
Your current address book and settings should be migrated over to the new program.
Within the next couple weeks, we will change all users over to the new program. To allow users time to get used to the new program, the old webmail application will continue to be available for some time. At some point, though, it will become unavailable.

Did you know? Spam filtering statistics | Apr 17, 2007 |
Webpipe.net works very hard fighting the ever increasing spam problem. Even though e-mail comes free with almost every type of account here at Webpipe, it is by far one of the most labor intensive services. Webpipe System Administrators are constantly updating our three dedicated spam filtering servers in order to provide the best e-mail service available.
Did you know?
Here are some statistics for the last 30 days of e-mail coming into Webpipe.net:
Messages received: 10,139,940 (Yes, over ten million)
Messages immediately rejected: 8,011,959
Messages left for advanced filtering: 2,127,981
Messages quarantined as spam: 1,440,468
Messages delivered to customers: 687,513
That means that 6.78% of the mail that comes in to Webpipe is actually delivered to the customer or in other words, 93.22% of the messages are removed as spam. So next time you get a spam message, you now know that there are 93 more of them that you do not have to delete.
