Comparing the Competition - Wireless Features
When comparing Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPs) and their wireless Internet packages, it is very important to understand all of the options and features that you get with each package. Unfortunately, many providers do not provide you with all of the information that you need. At Webpipe, we believe that by giving you all of the facts, you will find Webpipe to be the best WISP in the area. As you visit the websites of other providers, you will find many of the features listed below either missing or inferior to our offerings. Here's a list of the features and what they mean:
Speeds: The speeds that you get are the most important features of your wireless package. Unfortunately, this is one area where some WISPs are very unclear. There are three possible speeds that you should aware of:
Burst: The burst speed is the fastest possible download speed that you would be allowed to use under optimal conditions. Some providers also limit the amount of time that you are allowed to burst (so your download is very fast at first but then quickly drops to a much slower speed). Webpipe does not limit the burst time, but does limit your burstable download speed based on each package's set rate.
Down: This is the download speed at which you should be able to sustain at all times. So at any given time you should be able to download something at least at this speed. Note that some providers do not guarantee a sustained download speed.
Up: This is the upload speed at which you should be able to sustain at all times. Upload speeds are important when trying to upload files to a server, send large e-mail attachments, and play online games.
Monthly Bandwidth: This is another very important feature. This is the total amount of traffic you are allowed to use in a given month. Some provider's packages offer very fast speeds, but very small bandwidth levels, forcing you to pay overage fees when you go over or shutting your Internet off when you have hit your limit. Webpipe's packages come with enough monthly bandwidth that you do not have to worry about these hidden fees.
E-mail Addresses: All Webpipe packages come with a set number of e-mail addresses, and if you would like more, they are easy to get and are very inexpensive.
Static/Public IP address: All Webpipe packages come with a static public IP address for no additional charge. Many providers charge $5/month or more for this feature.
Equipment Fees: Some providers charge you over $200 up front to purchase their equipment. Webpipe does not require you to purchase our equipment and we support it for free, long after any warranty would expire.
Support: One of the most often overlooked features, support is very important. What if something isn't working? Is it on your side or theirs? Webpipe offers multiple methods for you to receive support. We have free support online, through e-mail, or simply call us and talk to a friendly technician that is more than willing to help you. We even have an after-hours support system where you can report system wide outages/problems.
