Frequently Asked Questions - Wireless
What is Wireless Internet access?
Traditionally, customers have accessed the Internet from over a copper wire (like a phone line) that connects your location to a central office that is connected to the Internet. Webpipe's wireless network takes advantage of advances in wireless networking technology to bypass the copper wiring completely, and transmit the Internet signal through the air to your location (using a small radio) from one of our towers or POPs (Point of Presence). The signal is then sent back to our main office that is directly connected to the Internet.
Where is service available?
Since we don't have to dig up roads and bury wire as traditional, copper-based services require, we can offer high-speed Internet access to areas that otherwise would not be able get it. Both DSL and Cable Internet have distance restrictions that make it difficult to service remote areas. Wireless broadband allows us to bypass these restrictions. Our current towers (in Pleasant View, East Bench, Riverdale, the Ogden Industrial Park, Remuda, and Century Drive) allow us to cover most of Weber County. The following map shows our current coverage area:
In order to be sure you qualify for service, simply fill out this

What if I don't qualify for coverage?
If you don't currently qualify for coverage, please fill out this form, and will will contact you when service becomes available in your area.
Will this allow me to have Internet around my house or neighborhood?
No, although we are also considering offering Internet HotSpots in the near future, currently Webpipe only offers a fixed wireless service. We mount a fixed antenna to the roof of your location and point it to one of our towers. The Internet is then delivered into your location over a network cable. Once inside, the cable is connected to a router for further use inside the location. Of course, you may purchase a wireless router, which broadcasts an additional wireless signal for use with your laptop or other wireless equipment.
Can my service be affected by weather or other objects in the way?
Weather does not normally cause a problem with our Wireless service. Extreme blizzards and snow build-up on your radio can cause temporary outages with the service. Trees and other objects can affect the signal, which is why we perform a site survey before we qualify you for service. Webpipe.net will not install the service if it can not provide you with quality service.
How long will it take to activate the Wireless Internet access?
Most installations can be completed within one week from the date of order.
What type of contract agreement do I have to sign?
You are required to agree to a 12 month Wireless Internet Agreement/Contract prior to installation. We maintain ownership of the CPE (radio & antenna) and peripheral equipment.
What happens if I do not want the service anymore?
In accordance with the Terms and Conditions, you are required to pay the remaining months on your contract unless Webpipe.net cannot provide you with a reasonable consistent connection. All Webpipe equipment must be returned in working condition, including: CPE, POE, & cables. Installation charges will not be refunded
What happens if I move?
You should contact Webpipe.net and confirm if the service is available at the new address. If the service is available, Webpipe.net can install the equipment at the new location. There is a $60.00 installation charge for the new location.
